Altruism isn’t typically a term attributed to award-winning architects—a profession where signature has become a common adjective—but Marina Tabassum isn’t typical. She has developed a practice and a way of being that prioritizes local cultures and values, as well as the perils faced by our shared planet.
Tabassum’s altruism even extends to buildings themselves. She cares for her creations as creatures partaking in the resources of our earth: describing her Bait Ur Rouf Mosque in Dhaka, Bangladesh, which won the prestigious Aga Khan Award, she said a building “has to be able to breathe without artificial aids.

Biography: Neve Campbell's most famous roles are as Julia Salinger in the TV drama series "Party of Five", and as Sidney Prescott in the horror film series "Scream".
Campbell began her showbiz career training to be a ballerina before having to give it up because of injury. She drew on her love of ballets, writing and starring in the Robert Altman ballet film "The Company" in 2003.
The 43-year-old actor returned to the show after serving as a guest host on Friday, and host Ellen DeGeneres asked if Sudeikis' wife, Olivia Wilde, liked his long hair. Sudeikis was then surprised by Wilde, 35, who came out and said, "It's the same as my hair. There's only room for one of these in our house." As the audience responded with various surprised sounds, a nervous Sudeikis said, "
The worst fears of France’s already tense Jewish community came to be on Friday when an assailant believed to have killed a policewoman the day before took hostages at a Kosher supermarket in eastern Paris.
The suspect was killed when police stormed the market and several hostages were reportedly freed, but the fate of others remains unclear. Prime Minister Manuel Valls told reporters earlier that the suspect, believed to be Amedy Coulibaly, 32, had ties to the gunmen in the terror strike on Charlie Hebdo on Wednesday, who were killed in a separate police operation on Thursday.
And capturing the tone of Rooney's novel ( a literary sensation both in Rooney's native Ireland, where the novel is set, and on this side of the pond) was no easy task. Normal People reads like Jane Austen but with texting instead of snail mail (and that's not meant to be a dig; quite the opposite). It's a novel with such attention to its character's confused and hormonal thoughts, that a cinematic adaptation (without such internal attention) might just look, outwardly, like soft-core Oxygen network porn.

Graham Greene’s 1955 novel The Quiet American fuses a murder mystery with a scathing critique of U.S. involvement in 1950s Vietnamese politics in the midst of French occupation. The story is told from the perspective of Thomas Fowler, a British foreign correspondent reporting in Saigon.
The worst atrocity yet committed in the Viet Nam war (see pictures opposite) began its course last week when a handful of Viet Cong crawled up to the wall-and-wire perimeter of the hamlet of Dak Son, some 75 miles north east of Saigon. The V.C. called for the hamlet’s inhabitants to surrender and come out. When they got no takers, they withdrew, hurling behind them their ultimate epithet: “Sons of Americans!
